I had wanted to the whole week be Patriotic posts this week but there is too much in the news today. Key Lay the former chairman of Enron died. I guess no jail time for him.

North Korea defiantly test launched at least 7 and some reports of up to 10 missiles on the 4th of July just minutes after the USA launches the Space Shuttle in an obvious attempt to thumb their nose at the US. At least the missiles fell harmlessly into the Japan Sea. But will we be so lucky next time? Unfortunately for the safety of the world, North Korea’s mad dictator seems to be bent on causing the world a nuclear holocaust as the mad dictator of Iran.

In the mean time Hamas fired a rocket into the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon on Tuesday. Luckily the rocket caused no injuries but it does show the defiance of Hamas. At least Israel will not cow down to terrorists. And now the UN is condemning Israel for defending itself. Why is it that the world thinks that Israel doesn’t have the right to defend itself? That just rankles me.

Now on to my Patriotic posts.

Independence Day – Thank a Soldier

Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier.

And, our soldiers don't just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.
For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom he abuses to burn that flag.
